Members of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) met Kerala’s Chief Minister-designate, VD Satheesan, at his residence on Saturday morning, following the Congress-led United Democratic Frontโs (UDF) decisive victory in the recent assembly elections. The small exchange happened in front of Satheesanโs house as he got ready to go to his appointments.

CCTV footage from the scene shows the hectic atmosphere around Satheesanโs house where stars of the Malayalam film fraternity had gathered to felicitate the senior leader by offering him flowers, a ceremonial shawl, and a special trophy. The important meeting is happening against the backdrop of a critical phase in politics, considering that the LDF government will conclude its ten years in office.

Satheesan, who has served as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly since 2021, was a central figure in the UDFโs campaign against the outgoing administration. Following the alliance’s commanding performance โ securing 102 seats in the 140-member assembly โ he was officially announced as the leader of the coalition on May 14. He is scheduled to take the oath of office as Kerala’s next Chief Minister on May 18.
