The symbolic Muhurat trading session
Muhurat trading is a symbolic market session held on Diwali, which also marks the beginning of the new Hindu calendar year. It is believed that trading during the ‘Muhurat’ or auspicious hour brings prosperity and financial growth for the stakeholders. Unlike regular trading days, when equity markets operate from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm, Muhurat trading runs for a shorter period.
Market analysts had earlier cautioned that the limited trading window can lead to heightened volatility. But onย Friday, the Indian indices had defied a global market rout, with Sensex settling at 81,028.02 and the Nifty ending at 25,030.35.
“Indian equity markets ended sharply higher on Friday, extending their winning streak to seven consecutive sessions and demonstrating considerable resilience despite the sharp sell-off in global technology stocks. In a notable departure from the weakness across Wall Street and other Asian markets, domestic equities largely shrugged off concerns over the unwinding of AI-related trades.
“The rally, however, remained largely concentrated in large-cap stocks, with banking and financial services shares emerging as the principal drivers of the gains,” Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, had said.
