Global OTT giant Netflix is set to expand its presence in India with the opening of a new office in Hyderabad. The facility, spread across nearly 30,000 square feet, will be inaugurated on March 12 by A Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, along with the stateโs IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
ย
The new office marks an important milestone as Netflix completes 10 years of operations in India. The streaming platform already operates an office in Mumbai, and the Hyderabad facility will be its second office in the country.
ย
Officials believe the expansion will further strengthen Hyderabadโs rapidly growing animation, visual effects, gaming and comics (AVGC) ecosystem. Over the past few years, the city has emerged as a key hub for digital entertainment technology, attracting global studios and creative companies.
ย
Government sources said the presence of Netflix is expected to create new employment opportunities for young professionals with creative and technological skills. The expansion may also encourage advanced skilling programmes aimed at training talent in areas such as animation, visual effects and digital production.
ย
โThis development is an important step in establishing Hyderabad as a major centre for digital content creation,โ officials said, adding that the investment aligns with the Telangana governmentโs vision to promote innovation and strengthen the creative industry ecosystem.
ย
Several globally recognised VFX and entertainment companies already operate from Hyderabad, providing services for major international film projects, including Hollywood productions. These include firms such as Warner Bros., Disney, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft.
ย
The city has also recently adopted advanced filmmaking technologies. A state-of-the-art motion capture facility, the M&M Cap Lab, was set up at Annapurna Studios. Motion capture technology, widely used in Hollywood films and high-end digital productions, allows filmmakers to create highly realistic visual effects and animated characters.
ย
Industry experts say the arrival of Netflixโs new office is likely to further boost the AVGC sector and strengthen Hyderabadโs reputation as one of Indiaโs leading hubs for film production, visual effects and digital storytelling.
