Krishna Mukerji, the mother of Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji, died at the age of 75 on Tuesday afternoon.
In a statement, the family said they were sharing the news with heavy hearts and expressed gratitude for the love, prayers and support extended to them. The family also requested privacy during the period of grief.

The cause of Krishna Mukerjiโs death has not been disclosed.

She was married to filmmaker Ram Mukerjee, co-founder of Filmalaya Studios, who died in 2017. The couple had two childrenโactor Rani Mukerji and film producer Raja Mukerji.

Krishna Mukerji was associated with the Bengali film industry as a playback singer. Among her credited works is the song Idd Ke Din Gale Mil Le Raja from Teesri Aankh, released in 1982.
