Ronaldo exits Portugal camp ahead of Denmark Nations League clash, vows to ‘tell the truth’ when time comes

Cristiano Ronaldo has left the Portugal national team camp ahead of the UEFA Nations League clash against Denmark, ending days of speculation surrounding his absence.

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed leaving the Portugal national team camp ahead of the Nations League clash against Denmark on Wednesday.

Ronaldo was missing in action from Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway and was seen warming the bench for the whole match, raising questions among fans. The veteran forward also did not train with the rest of the squad.

The Portuguese star was reportedly scheduled to hold talks with head coach Jorge Jesus and FPF President Pedro Proença in an effort to resolve the situation, according to The Athletic.

‘Will tell what motivated my departure’

On Instagram, Ronaldo announced his departure from the Portugal camp following discussions with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation. The veteran forward said he would soon disclose the reasons the federation gave him, which led him to leave the national team camp ahead of a crucial fixture, promising fans greater clarity on the situation.

“After the press conference of the National Team coach, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I decided to leave the National Team camp.

“In due time, I will tell all the Portuguese about the reasons that motivated my departure from the national team, which I always dedicated myself to. Now it’s time to wish good luck to Portugal and all my teammates, without exception,” Ronaldo wrote.
