Several streaming services announced that the 36-year-old singer broke some release-day records with the harmonica-and-banjo-infused country track.

Apple Music confirmed the โToy Story 5โ track earned the title of its biggest country single of 2026, while simultaneously shattering the all-time record for the most first-day plays of a soundtrack single.

On Spotify, the track made history as the most-streamed country song in a single day by a female artist.

Additionally, Amazon Music announced that the song secured the biggest global 24-hour streaming debut for any release in 2026.

Interestingly, Swift and Pixar had been generating anticipation for โI Knew It, I Knew Youโ through a highly calculated teaser campaign with several Easter eggs hinting at the pop star’s potential involvement with โToy Story 5โ.

Later, on June 1, Swift announced that she had created a song for the film’s soundtrack. โI’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie,โ Swift wrote on social media.

โI fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?โ

Swift released โI Knew It, I Knew Youโ on June 5 on streaming services along with a music video, featuring a compilation of memorable โToy Storyโ moments starring the cowgirl rag doll Jessie.

โWriting this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,โ Swift captioned an Instagram video of herself as a kid wearing cowgirl attire. โCreating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.โ

โAnd being a Toy Story kid from the age of 5 til now โฆ is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond,โ she added and went on to thank everyone who worked on the film and the song.
