US President Donald Trump in his address to the nation on Iran war on Friday said the US will intensify its military campaign against Iran over the coming weeks, even as talks continue behind the scenes. He strongly stated that the US will bring Iran back to the Stone Age as it will hit them extremely hard in next 2-3 weeks.
Trump says Iranian oil infrastructure remains a possible target
He further added that Iranian oil infrastructure remains a possible target, saying the US “could hit their oil” if needed. However, he said the diplomatic channels remain open, noting that discussions are ongoing as Washington weighs its next steps.
Trump said, “I have made clear from the beginning of Operation Epic Fury that we will continue until our objectives are fully achieved. Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly, very shortly. We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We’re going to bring them back to the stone ages where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing. Regime change was not our goal. We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leaders’ death. They’re all dead. The new group is less radical and much more reasonable.”
US is systematically dismantling Iran’s ability to threaten America
Trump said the US is systematically dismantling the regime’s ability to threaten America or project power beyond its borders which includes eliminating Iran’s navy, damaging its air force and missile programme.
He said, “Iran’s strategy was clear, they wanted to produce as many long-range missiles as possible and were racing towards a nuclear weapon. They were at the doorstep. For years, people said Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, but those are just words without action. As I stated during Operation Epic Fury, our objectives are clear, we are systematically dismantling the regime’s ability to threaten America or project power beyond its borders. That includes eliminating Iran’s navy, damaging its air force and missile program, and destroying its defence industrial base. We’ve done all of it, their navy is gone, their air force is gone, and their missile capabilities are nearly exhausted. These actions will cripple Iran’s military, cut support to terrorist proxies and deny them the ability to build a nuclear bomb. Our armed forces have been extraordinary, and these strategic objectives are nearing completion.”
Iran’s weapons factories and rocket launchers are being blown to pieces
He noted that “weapons factories and rocket launchers are being blown to pieces – very few of them left,” and claimed that the United States is “winning bigger than ever before.”
Trump also argued that his confrontational strategy, including his previous decision to withdraw from the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal, prevented regional catastrophe. He claimed the earlier accord “would have led to a colossal arsenal of massive nuclear weapons for Iran,” and asserted that without his intervention, “they would have had them years ago, and they would have used them.”
“It would have been a different world. There would have been no Middle East and no Israel right now,” the President remarked.
Outlining the current tactical situation, Trump stated that “taken together, these actions will cripple Iran militarily.” He emphasized that the mission is designed to “crush their ability to support terrorist proxies and deny them the ability to build a nuclear bomb,” adding that “our armed forces have been extraordinary.”
