Trump’s fiery warning as Iran’s biggest bridge goes up in flames: ‘Make a deal before it’s too late’

Washington:

US President Donald Trump on Thursday issued a sharp warning to Iran, threatening it to either strike a deal or face further devastation. He made the remark while claiming that US strikes had destroyed Iranโ€™s biggest bridge.ย

Trump also shared a video showing thick smoke billowing from the structure as it burned, underscoring the intensity of the attacks.

โ€œThe biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again โ€” Much more to follow! IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!โ€ Trumpโ€™s post on Truth Social read.ย

Trump signals continued strikes on Iran

Earlier, Trump indicated that military action against Iran may continue in the coming weeks, warning Tehran of further heavy strikes. He suggested that operations so far have been highly effective, claiming that American objectives have already been achieved or even surpassed.

Addressing the nation over the evolving situation in the Middle East, Trump said Iran could face intense attacks over the next two to three weeks.

Despite the firm stance, Trump did not address the possibility of diplomatic talks with Iran. He also made no reference to the earlier deadline of April 6 that he had set for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas shipments.

The strategic waterway remains a major concern, as any disruption has serious consequences for international energy markets. Trump had previously warned that Iranโ€™s energy infrastructure could be targeted if the strait was not reopened, but he did not repeat or expand on that threat in his latest remarks.

There was also little clarity on how the US plans to stabilise supply chains or reduce the impact on rising energy prices. In addition, Trump did not discuss the option of deploying American ground forces in Iran.

He similarly avoided mentioning NATO, the long-standing military alliance, which he has previously criticised for not doing enough to support US efforts in securing the vital shipping route.
