Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a number of significant remarks about the political climate and the just-ended parliamentary session during a recent tea meeting with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders.
According to sources, PM Modi commented on the state of the opposition, particularly the Congress party. He reportedly stated that several young and talented leaders within the opposition are not given the opportunity to speak or express themselves. He attributed this to ‘family insecurity,’ suggesting that the presence of these young, capable leaders might be making Rahul Gandhi feel “insecure and nervous.”

No opposition leaders attended the meeting, which was only open to members of the ruling alliance. According to reports, PM Modi hailed the just-ended Parliament session as “a good one” during the conversation because several significant bills were successfully passed.ย
He specifically lauded the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, highlighting its “far-reaching impact” and emphasising that it was a reform that deserved wider discussion and would directly affect the public.
Sources further indicated that the Prime Minister was critical of the opposition’s conduct during the session. He accused them of staying away from debates on major legislation, stating, “They only remained engaged in creating disruptions.”

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which was passed on August 20, is a significant piece of legislation.ย It imposes strict regulations and sanctions on online money gaming businesses, their marketers, and those who violate them. By outlawing money-based online games and punishing violators severely, the bill seeks to regulate the quickly expanding but contentious online gaming industry.
The All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) has expressed concerns about the bill’s potential impact. The organization has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking his urgent intervention and warning that a complete prohibition could cause severe damage to the gaming sector.
In addition to his critique of the opposition’s lack of engagement in debates, PM Modi also reportedly criticised their disruptive behavior. The parliamentary proceedings had descended into chaos on a previous occasion when opposition members tore up copies of three controversial bills.ย These bills, tabled by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sought the temporary removal for 30 days of a Prime Minister or Chief Minister who has been arrested on serious charges.
