After skipper Shreyas Iyer’s match-winning century powered India to an eight-wicket victory in the opener, the hosts will be eager to maintain their momentum, while the West Indies seek a strong comeback to keep the series alive.
India and the West Indies are set to lock horns in the second T20 international match, with the series heading to Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, on Friday. The Shreyas Iyer-led Men in Blue sealed a comprehensive eight-wicket win in the first T20I, with captain Iyer smashing his maiden hundred during the chase, delivering a Player of the Match-worthy performance.
Team India will look to carry the momentum further into the series, while the West Indies will aim for a turnaround when both sides face each other under the lights of Ranchi.
India & West Indies set for limited-over clash
Expectations will be high on the regular Indian openers — Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson — after they didn’t make a huge impact in the series opening clash.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the teen batting phenomenon, is breathing down Samson’s neck to take over his spot, but it may seem unlikely as the team management wants the 15-year-old to spend more time with the T20 international unit.
More from FirstcricketFor the West Indies, captain Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford showed immense promise against the Indian bowling unit, scoring their respective half-centuries against India. The batting unit will look to fire in all cylinders to deliver a smashing performance in the upcoming match.
