Arizona (USA): A major flash flood in the Grand Canyon National Park forced the evacuation of dozens of people after torrents of muddy water swept large boulders, logs, metal structures and other debris into the Colorado River, authorities said. The flash flood hit the Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch area on Saturday afternoon. The National Park Service said about 15 people may still be missing, after initially reporting that more than 20 people could be unaccounted for. Washington: The United States struck Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, marking its first military strikes on Iran in a month and prompting Tehran to retaliate. The US said the strikes targeted two Iranian launchers after Revolutionary Guard forces were observed preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the strategic waterway. Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kyrgyzstan on Sunday to attend the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines. Kathmandu: When Rajendra Dawadi realised the floodwaters were moving towards his school, there was no time for a long evacuation plan. The 47-year-old principal of Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Nepal's Trishuli Valley rang the school bell, ordered teachers to get the children out and began making calls as fast as he could.
